Allo Allo Copenhagen Reviews
A French bistro sense in Copenhagen Jul 24, 2010
The restaurant Allo Allo opened in January 2010 and it is situated in the city centre close to Nikolaj Church and Frederiksholm canal, besides this you can look at Christiansborg where Folketinget (our parliament) is situated.
The place is inspired by the French bistro culture and there are many typical French dishes on the menu. The name is supposed to refer to the British TV-series by the same name stating that it does not have to be posh even though the cooking is French.
The interior of the restaurant is nice and the surroundings are casual cozy as well. The restaurant is situated in an old wonderful duplex apartment with high ceilings. The two floors are quite different, but the lower one was closed while we were there. The upper floor is livelier, with high window panels’ painted in shinny red, while the walls are white.
Your knives and forks are situated in a holder on the table and you have to make it yourself. The menu is printed on the place mat; they had only one left in English when we were there.
We both of us started with the crab claws which turned out to be almost a full meal. It was long time since I had so well prepared crab and found the extremely fair priced at 100 dkr per portion. As main dish we both choose the cod and yet again the meal was wonderful.
The place was really nice with a good ambiance and atmosphere; it was truly a place that I could return to.
