Alligator Hole and the Manatee Reviews
Pretty far out May 04, 2011
The main reason to drive to Alligator Hole was actually not to see alligators but to see the endangered manatee that sometimes appears at this site. Getting here had been quite a journey, and as these animals were wild and wilder than the alligators in Black River; it would quite lucky if they appeared.
Otherwise was the Alligator Hole a heaven to sit and relax at after the long drive along the coast, where there hardly were any places to stop. The manatee were feed sometimes during the week from this spot and the best time to visit were morning or evening. Given the conditions to drive there you would hardly manage to be there at these times.
The water was crystal clear and covered with wild vegetation like mangroves, there were a couple of benches there and when we arrived there was a couple that had waited 2 hours to see any action.
