Alki Beach (West Seattle) May 19, 2011
Alki Beach should be on everyone's list right under Space Needle and Pike Place Market. Right across the West Seattle Bridge (exit 163) you can see the Seattle skyline. I would suggest going in the evening to enjoy a stroll, coffee and watch the sunset over dinner at multiple restaurants on the waterfront. Afterwards drive or walk to the boat launch park to witness a breathtaking night view of Seattle from across Elliot's Bay.

Not California...But At Least There's Sand Sep 01, 2009
I heard about this beach during my summer in Seattle. Since I was missing the beach and surf of my native California, I decided to come check it out. There definitely wasn't any surf here (it's far too sheltered), and the beach is quite small and gets crowded on a nice day, but it was still pleasant to sit in the sand and enjoy the sun.

Good place to relax, read, and get a quick "escape" from the city. Make sure to bring a beach towel, sunscreen, and some water!

Yes, I can hear you thinking "wha? a beach in Seattle? Shaadap!" But I assure you, THIS is the only true beach in Seattle. If you happen to be in town just about any time after the 4th of July until about mid-September, Alki Beach is a truly happenin' place. There are several great restaurants, a long beach front walk with great views of the Olympics and Puget Sound. If you walk further up the beach toward the city, around the bend you'll see a post card worth shot of downtown Seattle as well.

If you happen to be in Seattle during summer...and for the record, those three months I mention are the BEST times possible to be in Seattle...check out Alki.
