Alitagtag Overview

Alitagtag used to be a small barangay of Bauan. The name was derived from alitaptap (fireflies) that the Spaniards saw in the area. It was said the Spaniards are asking for the name of the place but due to language barrier, the locals grasp that the outsiders are asking for name of the insect.

From on a quiet town, resorts and restaurants are now opened to attract tourists from other parts of the province. However you can still see a typical rural town here where locals thrive on farming, raising stocks and planting vegetables and fruits.

The municipality held long month fiesta every month which starts every 7th of May. The highlights of the feast is the “TAPUSAN” that is held on the last day of month-long celebration of Flores de Mayo. The event shows the creativity of townfolks on creating karosa (float). Karosa is an artistically designed structure over a vehicle which is commonly used in parades and festivities.
