Alishan Castle Annex Reviews
Alishan Castle Annex Oct 22, 2013
If you're going to watch Sunrise at Alishan, you should be staying around this area. However, there are a number of Minsu (Guest houses) here, so it's not necessary that you chose this particular one.
In terms of location, there's not much of a difference between the other Minsu in this area cos they're like a whole cluster of guest houses. The difference could be the size of the rooms. This place is like a very small community. You can find a row of shops selling souvenirs, a 7-11, and a few restaurants nearby. It made me feel like I was in my own neighbourhood.
Good thing is, the train station that bring you up to Alishan is just less than 5 minutes walk away. Basically everyone who stays there wake up around the same time, 4am, to catch the earliest train at 5am. Very convenient to walk over. If you're going on a weekend, you may ask the hotelier to help you get the train tickets in advance.
The room is somewhat like a Japanese style with sliding divider between the entrance to the bedroom, and the bed is on the floor. Room is compact, good for 2, but a bit cramp if you have big luggage.
You may get your hot/cold water from the water dispenser outside of the room.
Toilet is just average, not sparkling clean but bearable. Rooms are not so sound proof, but good cos you can hear your 'neighbours' going out, indicating it's time to head to the train station!
To me, the room is very expensive for its size, but it's probably because it's in Alishan. It comes with breakfast for 2.
