Alice Cooperstown Phoenix Reviews
The two foot Jul 24, 2009
As a fan of that great guru of gastronomy Anthony Bourdain of No Reservations fame, I had to visit one location portrayed in a show segment of the South West tour episode in sweltering Phoenix, Arizona. It was hot, crazy hot, like open the oven door and singe your belly hair hot... but the visit was worth it.
Alice Cooperstown was built in 1998 and named after Arizona resident and legendary shock rocker Alice Cooper. Maintaining a rock and roll atmosphere while still showing nothing but sports on their 16 big screen tv's is one reason Cooperstown it is said "Jocks and Rock meet". The food is your average Americana home style and BBQ dishes served in a 6000 square foot "warehouse" style dining room that spans 2 floors. This is a sports fans Mecca that has a vibe all of its own. Cooperstown is certainly a one-of-a-kind from their "Alice Eyes" make up to the signature "Big Unit" 22" hot dog pictured below. I ate the thing and I gotta tell ya, thank God for the snooze time on the plane back to LA because I nearly fell over in the airport suffering from a massive food coma.. the thing was huge... Randys Johnson HUGE. The food is very tasty, reasonably priced and down right yummy... did I just say that word? Well it was and I guess others feel the same because the two foot Frankfurter Würstel has won many prizes and taste contests. If you are ever in Phoenix, stop by and give your heart a run for its money... just make sure your health insurance is paid up if you attempt the Big Unit. Did I mention it was huge?
