The Partal palace dates from the fourteenth century and was built during the reign of Muhammad III. The palace has been heavily restored to the extent that only two of the palace’s original structures remain - the Torre de las Damas and the Torre del Mihrab.

Despite the maintenance, the general impressiveness of the site has not diminished. The structures are beautifully decorated with Arabic and stunningly intricate patterns, and the garden and pool is awe-inspiring. On a clear and sunny day, the reflection of the palace on the pool water is simply stunning. Beyond the main pool lies the lion fountain, which is very famous indeed but something that I forgot to see!

If you are going to the Alhambra, this section of the site is well worth the visit and you should aim to spend a decent amount of time there. Oh, and do remember to visit the lion fountain, as I completely forgot to do so on this occasion. At least this means I have a good reason to visit it again!

i agree! it was so annoying, and i knew about that fountain too. but everything looked so amazing, that logic just went out of the window! would love to go in the spring or late summer, and not in the really intense heat!
