algeria is not a well travelled country; early years of independence in 1962, were followed by a quasi socialist regime, with very little in terms tourist facilities; in the 90s, a civil war, meant it was a no go area. troubles have died down over the past few years, and the outlook is fairly optimistic; the country is the tenth largest in the world, and with this large area, is offered wonderful variety of scenery, very sociable and hospitable people, coupled with a mediteranean weather.
