Alfresco Seafood Restaurant
Alfresco Seafood Restaurant Lima Reviews
One of the best baby octopus in town - Alfresco Apr 20, 2010
There are many fish and seafood restaurants in Lima, so it is very difficult to choose one that can be considered the best.
With many new good restaurants opening lately, it's difficult to remember all of them. This one has been rated as one of the best in town a few years ago and have been around for about 10 years. They have 2 locations, one in the business area - always full with business people - and another one in Miraflores.
The decoration is beach theme, casual but not too much, although it is not upscale either. Well, it's not cheap, but not too expensive either. Also the quality of the food and service is very good.
They have a large menu, including the famous cebiche, but the best dish - at least for me - is the grilled baby octopus. This was the first place where I tried and really liked it. So this is a special dish for me. Also their "arroz con mariscos" - rice with seafood is very good too. Last time here I was with a colleague and we ordered an appetizer that had fried prawns, grilled baby octopus, scallops (with grilled Parmesan cheese on top), and pieces of fried fish. This plater was delicious but the winner was the baby octopus. It was really tender and not chewy at all, which is usually the problem with octopus.
Yes, there are too many good restaurants in Lima, but I will always come back here for the baby octopus.
Another good thing about this place: they are open daily! Furthermore they serve cebiche the whole day, while in other places this dish is served just for lunch. Sunday evening and Monday are bad days for eating out in Lima, but you can always visit this place :)
