The lovely Mediterranean, great street-side eating joints by the sea, catacombs, Bibliotheque Nationale. Jan 01, 2012
We took a road trip from Cairo to Alexandria, which was spectacular. On the way, there are these little food joints serving basic bread and soft drinks. Alexandria is a mix of Europe and Africa. There were great restaurants, the beaches were lovely, less crowded, though. The Bibliotheque Alexandrina is an architectural gem, which appears to be a disc rising from the ground against the blue Mediterranean. I was awe struck, just lost for words. Cyprus and Greece are pretty close to Alexandria, hence the European influence. Alexandria is a confluence of two continents, which will charm you exceedingly. From catacombs to temples, it has a lot to offer.
