Day 7: From Bjölstad to Alesund
posted by:

After breakfast we headed south to Molde for some sightseeing. This little town is famous for its roses and the jazz festival. But in early june (with this cold weather too) you won't find lots of roses. Just the statue of the Lady of Roses downtown. Molde is a nice place located at the Moldefjord.…

In the rainy morning we drove from our accommodation in Andalsnes to Alesund.   Later on we had lunch and went for a walk around the city of Alesund, where the modern cruise ship ‘Costa Algera’ called at the harbour.   Then the mission to buy a few souvenirs was quite an ef…

Norweigian Cruise: Alesund Travel Photos

I never would have thought a cruise along the western coast of Norway would have been worthwile, but after my grandmother took my sister and I, I realized it was spectacular. The landscape had a harsh, rugged beauty and the near 24-hour sunlight within the arctic circle was really an experience. Bergen was the largest city in Norway (but has only 250,000 inhabitants). The hiking was just phenomenal - especially when we climbed on a glacier.

Jul 06, 2007 – Jul 18, 2007
In the night of January 23, 1904, practically the whole town was destroyed by fire (difficult to imagine how people of town survived until the end of strong Norwegian winter in temporary shelters and barracks). Then town was restored from ash using stone, brick and mortar. As result all the center …

June 2004 one of my childhood friends married a norwegian girl in Ångdalsnæs. One of the beautiful places is the Troll wall and Troll Path (Troll veggen og Troll stien). The day after the wedding on the way back to Ålesund, we stopped and hiked. A beautiful place!
