Albufeira - Old town Reviews
Beautiful but loosing it's traditional charm Jan 22, 2013
I love this city, the architecture and the slow paced life style.
The white washed houses are so typical from this area, it brings me great childhood memories.
There's plenty to do and to discover, lot's of bars, restaurants, buffets, discos, plazzas and a cute small beach.
Shame it's always overcrowded with loud drunk tourists, otherwise summers would be great there. The best time to visit is spring or winter, less tourists.
Another thing that bothers me (and many people), is that this beautiful typical village became a mecca for British tourists who seem to only prefer their British owned styled pubs, which turned the village in a British wanna be/please town.
This is one of the major reasons why Portuguese tourists avoid this place as much as possible, and try to spend time in more "traditional" towns.
This is really unfortunate and takes away most of it's old charm.
All in all Albufeira is still beautiful.
