Alba Guesthouse Reykjavik Reviews
Very clean and affordable accommodations! Jan 06, 2011
We stayed in Alba Guesthouse on Jan 6th-12th in their triple room with complimentary breakfast. We ended up paying $180 per person including the deposit when we made the booking!
Very clean and affordable guesthouse in a residential area of Reykjavik.
Alba Guesthouse is close to the bus terminal (less than 10 minute walk) and 15 to 20-minute walk to the famous church, shopping & nightlife area along Laugevuger.
The living and dining area were clean, spotless, and minimally decorated - very Scandinavian style. There are 5 rooms available on the 2nd floor with shared 2 showers and 1 toilet. The other toilet is on the 1st floor. Rooms are cleaned daily. Linens are provided and towels are changed regularly.
The owner is very helpful when booking and changing reservations and when tours are canceled.
Tours also provided a door-to-door pick-up and drop-off.
Price includes an excellent typical Icelandic breakfast of freshly baked bread and croissant, cheese, tomatoes, and fruits, with cereals, yogurt, orange juice, tea, and milk.
Free wifi access.
No showers between 11pm to 7am as per owner due to noise attributed to thin walls.
No access to kitchen!
Because there is no access to the kitchen, it was difficult to get drinkable hot water and there always seems no one after 8pm in the guesthouse.

Lovely place to stay Apr 17, 2011
I can definitely recommend staying here if you are ever in Reykjavik.
We had a twin room which was very comfortable, the bathroom was nice too, the breakfast was great, and the people were lovely! It was spotless, perhaps the only slight downside is that it's not in the centre of town, although it's only a 15 minute walk, it probably just seems further since Reykjavik is so small!
Alba Guesthouse Overview
Located in the old part of the city and just 500 metres (546 yards) from the BSI, Fly Bus Terminal and close to shops and restaurants, the Alba Guesthouse in Reykjavik is the perfect for business or pleasure. This 10-room house is ideal if you are looking for a hotel alternative that doesn't compromise on quality, and the property is also conveniently located for the Hallgrimskirkja (famous for being the highest church tower), museums, galleries, shops and restaurants. From the moment you arrive you'll feel right at home at this friendly and accommodating guest establishment. Situated in the quiet residential area of Hlidar, guests can look forward to a peaceful ambience and a great base for discovering the delights of the capital of Iceland. This value for money Reyjkavik guest house offers plenty of parking space around the house, and benefits from a pleasant non-smoking ambience. It was opened in June 2004 and bears all the hallmarks of a quality property for the busy professional traveller or recreational holidaymaker.
