Hundreds of preserved historical manors have become great attractions for today's residents of Estonia. And probably for tourists travelling by car.
Alatskivi Manor is one of many old manors in Estonia worth visiting. We decided to go there because we saw it on picture and it looked like Disneyland for us. This was built in the beginning of 17th century. It was rebuilt several times and got it nowadays appearance in the 19th century when it's owners decided to make it a copy of Balmoral Castle in Scotland (just a little smaller, maybe). The main building was really fascinating. Even though some reconstruction wouldn't hurt. And the nature around is great. Forest, lawns, everything looks very neat, you can tell that they are being taken care of. This is a great place to have an afternoon walk. There is a museum inside of the manor, that costs 2 eur, we didn't go inside, had too much fun in the open. Part of the Travelling in Estonia travel blog |
