Juneau, the experience of a lifetime

Not only did Juneau become the capital of Alaska in 1906, the small remote inland city is steeped in culture and tradition offering even the remote tourist a free history lesson that they will never forget. Juneau is the only capital that has no roads in or out of the city (literally having end of …

Well, like the Steese Highway there is a road to Chena Hot Springs, appropriately called Chena Hot Springs road, haha. Which is probable in my top ten drives. Usually I can catch a moose or two on the drive, but not this time. But non the less a good place for a good drive.

Today was incredible!!!!   Our first 'cruise' through a fjord, and it was wonderful.  We went with Adventure Bound Travel and Captain Steve, who was great.  The boat was 54 feet long or so with a back viewing deck and room on the bow as well. The cruise left from the Juneau por…

Alaska cruise 2009: Alaska Travel Photos
posted by:

This was a cruise that I went on with some family and friends. This trip to Alaska doesnt even compare with my trip in 2007! I would much rather be driving around in Alaska then in the waters. but sense Alaska is magical, I loved the trip.the ship left port from Seattle, loved this city. Ports were in Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan. We also cruised around glagier bay for a day, which was beautiful!

Kayaking in SE Alaska

I joined this guided tour due to the fact that I had never cold water kayaked. Bad mistake. I did not learn a thing about the aspects of cold water kayaking that could not have learned while simply kayaking myself. The best advantage of a guided tour is that it is all inclusive. They provide tents,…
