Alaska, USA -› Alaska, USA -› ...
These are other pictures I picked up along the way.  Alaska is such a beautiful state and none of these pictures I took can possibly do it justice.  I feel extrememly fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel this state over a summer.  From Juneau to Anchorage, Fairbanks to Homer, and all the places in between that I got the chance to see I have to say that this is one of the most wonderfully beautiful, exciting, boring, lonely, enchanting, and friendliest places on this ...

The Alaska I Knew - Summer 05 & 06: Alaska Travel Photos
posted by:

There's watching captive whales at Sea World perform silly stunts for dead fish.  And then there's watching wild whales. You never forget the first whale you see that's not caged.  There's always something fresh about it in your mind and each time I tell this tale, I smile.  I can only compare it to someone seeing a movie for the first time back when cinema was new and unheard of. It was WAY TOO EARLY on May 25th, 2005.  I was working for a small cruise boat made up like...

xmas day at North Pole (alaska): North Pole Travel Photos
posted by:
Dec 25, 2007
Well not the best day for pictures as the clouds covered what little time there was for the sun to shine. BUT I finally got my moose picture and it happened right beside the road. That along with a nice hike in the snow covered birch trees made for a very peaceful day to reflect on the past year. MERRY XMAS....SCOTT

Chatanika, Alaska: Chatanika Travel Photos
posted by:
Aug 18, 2007
Last weekend a friend and I took a drive up the Steese Highway, which is northeast of Fairbanks. It's a 162 mile one way road to Circle. We didn't go quite that far as we only went to milepost 85.5, a place called Twelve Mile Summit. Across from the Chatanika Lodge (mile 27.5) there is a short walk to an abandon gold dredge. Over 70 million dollars in gold were extracted from this area between 1926 and 1957.

Hiking Flat Top Trail
posted by:
Jun 01, 2002 - Sep 20, 2008
This was a pretty interesting hike since i went with my aunt and a bunch of her girl friends! the view was outstanding and the company was fun. I had wayyyyyyy too much fun taking pictures and was really hoping that i would get to see a bear nibbling on the berry bushes that were all over the place. the begining of the path has some cool looking tree formation that are white and in the dark would look pretty darn creepy! you can see the whole coast of the cook inlet and see anchorage too!

Day 3, 7-23-07:  “If the bear begins to feed on you….”               That morning, I was very glad I had drunk water before going to sleep the night before.  Even still, I was a little dehydrated.  But it wasn’t going to stop me from hiking up a glacier!              We all took showers and said goodbye to Moby Dick and made our way to the Safeway ...

Road Trip to Talkeetna: Talkeetna Travel Photos
posted by:
Feb 29, 2008 - Mar 01, 2008
It had to be done. ROAD TRIP. One of those I can't afford to take off (financially) but then again I can't afford not to (emotionally). 300 miles south to Talkeetna was my destination! I started my trip at 2am, cause I wanted to get to a place to take some pictures of Denali at sunrise. I knew it was gonna be a grand trip as as I was loading my car the northern lights where firing off. I arrived at the Alaska Veterans Memorial wayside area around 6:30, a little nap then took alot of pics

Juneau, the experience of a lifetime
posted by:
Jul 25, 2008 - Jul 31, 2008
Not only did Juneau become the capital of Alaska in 1906, the small remote inland city is steeped in culture and tradition offering even the remote tourist a free history lesson that they will never forget. Juneau is the only capital that has no roads in or out of the city (literally having end of the road signs). The majority of the cities income is generated from State and Local Government. Tourism follows closely behind with as many as six cruise ships arriving daily dumping off more than...
