Not Really a Tourist Destination Dec 14, 2017
I had checked the road atlas and saw a few communities to check out after leaving Indianola and heading back towards Port Lavaca. Alamo Beach was the place right after Magnolia Beach. Alamo Beach has not participated in any recent census as a separate location. The estimated population is under 100 but that fluctuates a lot because the community has a number of vacation homes so the population rises and drops dramatically due to the changing seasons. Alamo Beach is located near Texas Highway 319 and a few farm to market roads in Calhoun County in Southeast Texas. It is located on Lavaca Bay two miles southeast of Port Lavaca. Alamo Beach was established in the early 1900s and had a post office from 1907 to 1915. In 1915 the town constructed a seaside pavilion to attract tourists but I am not sure it exists today. Today, the town appears to exist almost solely as a vacation home area. Not really recommended for casual tourists; just drive on by.
