If you are in San Francisco or Oakland and want to do something different try taking a ferry. I had been in Jack London Square, Oakland, previously and found a wonderful restaurant, and when I got the chance to visit San Francisco again with my wife I knew of a nice evening we could have. Taking the ferry from San Francisco's Market Street pier at the Embarcadero across the eat dinner in Oakland and then back across to Pier 39's pier we could have a wonderful experience. The lights of San Francisco are amazing coming across the bay.

Just make sure that you know what time that last ferry departs from Oakland or you may have to pay quite a taxi fare to get back to SF.
