These are some pictures from my annual trip out to Destin with my Dad and cousins. This year we saw the destuction left by the hurricane. We started seeing it as far out as Alabama. We still managed to catch some fish and have a great time.

Right on schedule. All of our bike trips have been wonderful. No injuries or sickness. Of course, we always say lots of prayers before, during, and after our trips. So many opportunities for accidents, what with rain, traffic, bad roads, drivers on cell phones, and even snow. God has protected us for many, many miles and we are thankful. Successul travel requires two things: good planning and good company. We are fortunate to have both. Ja...

One of several planned stops to see train stations along the route, Bridgeport was a pleasant surprise. Despite it being an average small southern town, it has a beautiful, restored station. Since it no longer has any passenger service, it is now a museum. The town takes great pride in it, and it is once again the center of activity.
There is a large photo gallery, and lots of other material, that documents the history of the town and the railroad. The staff is friend...

I drove with a friend for two months all around the country when I turned 18. We left with about $35.18.

Does the thought of salt spray in your face and the back-and-forth rocking of a boat make you feel a little green? There's no need to despair. With its unique combination of the Gulf of Mexico, freshwater lakes and the Intercoastal Waterway, the possibilities for dropping a hook while on visiting the Alabama Gulf Coast are endless. While I was trying to find a nearby spot for to buy live bait, I stumbled across something really interesting. Did you know that at The Wharf, you can take lessons...

Spent the day getting back home. Direct flight from Rome to Atlanta, then after a slight delay due to storms closing the airport, on back to Huntsville, AL. Only got home about an hour late - pretty phenomomal if you're familiar with what shutting down the Atlanta airport for 45 minutes can do to the U.S. flight schedules.
Absolutely fantastic trip, but it's also good to be home in my own shower and bed.
Arrivederci, until it's time to leave for Greece !

I just love to roam: the streets, meet strange people, try their local foods and delicious goodies, taste and see if their cultures have similarities or so different (that I laugh at myself being a wandering wonder) that to them I am an "alien” from another world. I have yet see another human whose blood is blue and whose food is purely veggie, whose playmates are gorillas and monkeys.
I say we are the same genie having ups & downs just as when faced with sadness and happiness..

I took a short trip to Hong Kong island, Lantau, Macau and Kowloon. It was a very short trip and I hope to go back someday. Besides having a limited time, I lost about 300 of my photos. Ugh! Other than that, I had a great time and met some great people.

We've been in rain before, but this one might win the prize. Hard, pelting rain fell on us for about an hour before we pulled into a McDonald's. Soaked to the bone, we were praying for some relief. Riding wet isn't any fun. We started pulling dry clothes from our packed bags and commenced changing into them. Of course, the guys were soaked, too, but they just toughed it out, knowing that the wind would dry them soon enough. Closer to Chattanooga our pr...

Another business trip. Locals call it the Peanut Capital of the World - little statues of peanuts dressed up everywhere. This is a classic small southern town just 90 miles north of Panama City. Friendly people here and great southern BBQ.
