Well, here we are with another winter and I am holed up in my winter campground, the Escapees park in Summerdale, Alabama. Returned from a nice 2 week visit to my friends in Hawaii and will now settle in for a few months waiting for the weather to warm up. We celebrated Christmas in the park with several good meals and parties. The main meal for Christmas was provided by the park with each table providing the veggies and other assorted foods and deserts. Quite a nice meal and the next ...

A day trip to DeSoto Caverns - 2007: Childersburg Travel Photos
posted by:
Apr 03, 2007
This was a short day trip to DeSoto Caverns in Childersburg, Alabama in April. Per my parents’ recommendation, I went to DeSoto Cavern to see what all the hoopla was about. I was told that the main room is twelve stories high, and larger than a football field. The caverns are noted for one of the largest accumulations of onyx-marble stalagmites and stalactites in the United States.

So we left Birmingham at 3 AM Monday morning....kinda crazy. Our theme song became that Wallflowers song "Its 3 AM I must be lonley..." There was 11 of us piled into the church's Blue 15 passenger van. Steph took the first shift driving so I stayed awake to talk to her. Me made it to somewhere in Tennesee to stop for breakfast. By then, almost everyone was awake, and Scott wanted Chick fil a...it was foggy and we drove around in circles trying to find the ellusive Chick fil a for an hour, b...

A Delayed Start
posted by:
Jun 20, 2008 - Jun 21, 2008
Well we face delays when going on a trip, so why would I have thought this would be any different? I had taken the whole day off work and had planned on leaving early Friday morning to get there, checkin and get some sun-time in! But, no one else could go early with me! After waiting on Heather and Rachel to be done with cheer camp, we grabbed Speedy and hit the road. First stop was Clanton at the Peach Park for bathrooms and homemade ice cream! YUM! We also had to take the long route to ...
