Well obviously the air force knows what's best for us! They decided that my husband and I did not need a week in Utila indulging in beautiful crystal clear water, seeing gorgeous coral reef, and drinking exotic beverages on the beach! Instead they decided that my husband needed to go to Montgomery, Alabama for a five week TDY (temporary duty station). Starting from April 14 thru May 16, yep our week in Utila was supposed to be from May 10-17 well working on our tan line...

I went to this annual Kentuck Art Festival in Northport, AL. Local as well as inter/national artists were showcasing their masterpieces. The festival took place in Kentuck Park, about a mile down Old Downtown Northport. I enjoyed looking at beautiful paintings, crafts, pottery, and photographs. I especially loved the installation arts.I think the best way to savor the great art is to enjoy the pictures from the festival, and let the art speak for itself. Enjoy! :)

We are ending the day today in Monroeville, Alabama, where we will see the Old Monroe County Courthouse in the morning. It is the courthouse used in the book and movie "To Kill A Mockingbird". They even do a play, based on it each day.
We are at another Best Western tonight.
Dinner tonight was another real winner. Just around the corner from our hotel the desk clerk had suggested David’s Catfish House. We went in and got a table right away, but don't take that wrong. The place was crawlin...

Day 5 (continued in the list)Coffee Shops and BarsCoffee Shops- Capture Studio Café is my favorite coffee place in town. It is not located in the strip where everything else is, but the extra distance trades off with great hangout place, a much spacious area, a large TV monitor, live music, arts exhibit, and a very trendy restroom! Capture not only serves coffee and the standard muffins or cookies, it also serves lunch cold and toast sandwiches and salad. - Crimson Café is a popular c...

A short drive out Fort Morgan Road will reward you with beautiful white beaches and azure water. If you are one of the lucky ones that own a beach home, sit back and relax in your own private part of heaven. The warm water welcomes swimmers any time of the day or night. It feels like the 1950's with no fast food, no swimming pools and no tiki bars.

My Name Is Billy Presley
These are some of my GOALS for the summer. I am writing them down, because sometimes its good to have a list of things to do...you know like grocery list and top ten list and todo list and hit list. That way you dont forget or get off track. And you can reference the list when you need to. If you lose the list then you need to remember to make another list, so you can remember your goals. Just dont forget to make a copy of that list to. Now you may think that th...

I felt like a kid this morning. The forecast had said snow dust for Tuscaloosa this morning, and I got up real early this Saturday morning to welcome it! As I wrote before, it was rare to snow down here. And we had had a terrible drought last year. Most parts of the state were really dry up. Therefore, it was a blast to have snow for the second time this winter. It was the weather phenomenon in the extreme for this year. I know, I know.. most people would think what’s the big deal and would...

So I just got back from Gulf Shores, a place that I have frequented many times throughout my life, but this time was different. You see, I live very close to the beach, a little less than an hour, so going to the beach has always been pretty "normal" for me, so normal that I began to take it for granted. This past weekend I was at the beach, sitting on the condo porch reading a book, just gazing at the ocean and all I could think about was how much I wanted to be in Europe or Australia. I was...

Another short night! Between all of the load and unloading, doing the books, keeping up with this journal, and various other errands there just isn’t enough time to sleep, too! Oh, well I could be at work!
We ate breakfast at the Waffle House near our hotel. This was my first experience with a Waffle House. I decided I liked the food, but I didn’t care for our waitress. Rather than walk around the plastic partition that separated us from t...

Another great morning and we are under a fog advisory. We are taking I-10 west to Mobile, Alabama to visit Battleship Memorial Park. It's about an hour drive and it's open from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The USS battleship Alabama was commissioned August 16, 1942. It is 680 feet in length and a width of 108 feet 2 inches. She is registered as 35,000 tons, but under battle conditions, she weighed in at well over 45,000 tons or 90 million pounds. Her assigned crew was 127 officers and 2,205 enlisted.&...

I think a title such as above probably makes little sense to most. You'd have to understand two things for it to make sense, and given that two is such a small number, I choose to enlighten you. The first is this: I own a hermit crab, who I have lovingly dubbed "Ralph, the Red Lobster." I know that there is probably something twisted in bestowing the little pink-shelled dude with such a name, but don't dare to analyze my psychosis. The second thing you must understand is that I am one of...

Our flight took us from Bham to ATL to Gatwick, England. We were very fortunate in finding the best deal EVER on ticket prices!! our plane left the Bham airport at about 2PM....our adventure started right away when we HAD to leave the house, but the certificates for the hotels in Paris and London had not come in the mail yet! If we did not have the orginal certificates, we would not have anywhere to stay! AHHH! Stressful! So, Sue took us to the airport, dropped us off, drove BACK to our house...

Well we are set to go an our 1st official Winter Retreat with the students! Every previous year, there has been a Passion Conference to go to, so we were unable to plan a Winter Retreat. We are all excited to get away for a few days!
We decided to take our friend, Blue Van #6. She has been on so many adventures with us!
Heather and Rachel drove up later that Saturday after a family event.
We made our traditional stop at Chick fil a and Starbucks in Anniston! For some reason, Scott HAS to e...
