The Little Zoo That Could! Nov 24, 2010
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is a small zoo that is billed as the 'little zoo that could'. It has overcome obstacles that includes recovering from severe hurricane damage.

The zoo opens at 9 AM and I was there shortly thereafter, which I highly recommend. There was hardly anyone there and many of the animals were active before the hot sun started beating down.

It took about an hour to go through the zoo. The very first exhibit is a lemur playground, and they were certainly enjoying their toys and swings -- so adorable! Other animals included bobcats, tigers, bears, and an aviary. There is also a special needs capuchin money, Trey, who has his own environment. Throughout the zoo, certain exhibits are marked as ok to feed.

I enjoyed the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo very much. The admission price is $10; animals feed is available to purchase. The admission price is paid in the gift shop, and you enter the zoo from there.
