Al Ain (or Al-Ayn) - meaning the eye or the spring. The name was originated from the natural oasis located in this town. This 4th largest city in UAE is also known as Garden City, because the effort to plant and keep the city green with trees and grass.
It can be reached from Abu Dhabi (1.5 hrs) driving or from Dubai (1 hrs driving) to the border of Buraimi in Oman. There are several attractions, as the museum, palace, zoo, oasis (with the old falaj - or irigation system), public swimming pool and green park, last but not least is the high peak of Jebel Hafeet mountain, with the stunning view and nice road. I took a day tour to Al Ain with a local tour agent in Abu Dhabi named Cyclone.

The cost for their programs are more expensive than other tour agent that I've investigated, but the good thing with this one, is that they'll provide a 4-wheel drive for max 5 people per one trip. This was, unfortunately, only a one-day trip to the place called Al Ain, not known as much as Dubai but even more interesting because of its real beauty & almost untouched, unspoiled nature.It´s simply different...we came across the mountains surrounded by the desert, which underlines the powerful character of this place, & finally we found ourselves at the end of the road at the top of the hill in one hotel resort...nobody would expect it in such a place...
