Aktau (also spelled as Aqtau) is the one of the biggest city in Kazakhstan and it is situated in the Southwest of the country on the Mangyshlak Peninsula near the Caspian sea.
Aktau means "white mountain" and its territory once was inhabited by ancient tribes of Scythians.
Actually the city was founded in 1961 and firstly was it is the only city in the world which lives entirely on the sea waterthat has been desalinated with the help of a nuclear reactor.
The climate there is continental with dry summers and mild winters. And also the beaches of Caspian Sea are very popular during Summer season. There are several modern resorts on the coast to the south of the city.
