Excellent food, lovely atmosphere Jul 21, 2011
AiSuma is an Italian restaurant located in one of the old warehouses along the Nidelven river.

The interior is interesting, a mix of new and old. The old warehouse has been stripped to its original wooden walls. There are a lot of beams going through the restaurant. Quite a few glass shelves have been attached to them and a variety of different lamps decorates them. One wall is covered with old barrels and another wall with white porcelain tiles. Porcelain hands in different positions come out of the tiled wall. There are several large and small rooms decorated in different styles. One has old velvet sofas, another one high plastic chairs and another one again old leather armchairs and in the main room there are dark wooden tables with matching chairs and benches. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant so you can watch the chefs prepare the food.

Service is friendly and helpful – very professional! For the size of the restaurant the kitchen is quite small. It´s amazing how quick they manage to prepare and serve the food.

The menu offers a variety of pasta, salads and different kind off meat and fish. You can order tortilini for $25 or monkfish for $47. Last time I was there we ordered the chicken salad with vegetables, served with capers and curry dressing, chicken tortilini with parmesan cheese sauce, white wine steamed mussels and grilled monkfish served with shellfish risotto and vegetables. It was the best monkfish I have ever eaten. All the dishes were excellent.

The restaurant is all non smoking, but if you feel the need, there is a nice balcony downstairs, facing the river, where you are allowed to smoke.

First time I went to AiSuma I was by myself. I have later brought many colleges and it has always been a success. I can highly recommend AiSuma. The excellent food is served by friendly and helfull staff in a lovely atmosphere. It´s a delight to eat there and I will definitely eat there again.
