Airport layover hangout - Spanish Landing Reviews

Across the street from the San Diego International Airport is Spanish Landing Park. Nothing spectacular, but it's an easy walk from the terminal and gives you a place to chill for a few hours if you have a layover at SAN. Follow the signs to "Harbor Island" and it's a quarter mile of coastline to the right of Harbor Island Drive.
It's a linear park along the waterfront of San Diego bay with lawns to nap on, benches, and paths to walk, all with a view of the harbor and boats. You can experience some of San Diego Bay without a taxi. There are a few long-bearded homeless guys that hang out there, I know them, they're cool. This is where I come to pick people up from the airport- a better place to hang out until the plane lands than the crowded terminal. I was thinking it would also be a good place to wait for people picking you up. It's a pretty safe spot, even at night. At one end is the Cancer Survivor's art installation. Also nearby is the Embarcadero, if you have just a little more time. See my other reviews for these... Part of the InfraTravel, (within San Diego) travel blog |
