Airport Hotel Texel De Cocksdorp

What an excellent place this is ! As the name implies the Airport Hotel is located at the airport. Should you consider to go skydiving next door, you get 10% discount when you stay in this hotel. But that's just one of the many good things about this place.

I booked the King Appartment. This place has a double bed in a separate bedroom but they can place one or two extra beds in the living room if necessary. There's a living room area with LAN Internet connection, electronic safe, surround sound system and a tiny TV. Free DVD rental is available in the hall, as is a load of tourist information and magazines and newspapers. There's also a vending machine with cool drinks.

There's a dinner table for 4 persons and a small kitchen with microwave, fridge, coffee machine, water boilet, egg boiler and a full assortment of kitchenware. Every day some free tea and coffee are supplied.

The hotel offers varies sorts of breakfast deivery but to be honest, although you cannot cook, you have all the necessities to prepare your own continental breakfast.
The living room can get a bit warm but the bedroom has airco and both the living room and bedroom have slidedoors to the balcony, which overlooks the airport.

Don't worry about the airport. It's mainly recreational and serves propeller planes. After 18:00 hours there's no more planes landing or taking off.

The appartment has a splendid bathroom with bathtub/Jacuzi and shower cabin. The latter also has steam/hamam functionality. Can things get any better ? Oh, and there's a separate toilet.

There's a great deal of freedom. You get two sets of keys to your room and the front entrance so you can come and go whenever you want, even if the reception is not manned. Simply hang the 'clean room please' tag outside the door when you leave and you'll find the place tidied up when you return.

Reception was wonderful with the owners, Ria and Walter, talking enthusiastically about Texel and the hotel and offering all kinds of advice how to spend your time on the island. A complimentary bottle of wine is also offered on arrival.

I paid 525 Euro for 3 nights. Sure, it's no bed and breakfast but it's a very, very reasonable price for all the service an luxury you get.

The hotel and the airport are located in a central spot on the island, with the nearest villages just a couple of miles away (as is anything on Texel), easily reachable by car or bike.

One of the best places I've every stayed in. To sum it up in two words: highly recommended.

By the way, if you plan on staying here make reservations with the hotel instead of booking through sites. Drop them an e-mail and ask for the current promotion. I could have saved almost 200 Euro if I'd done that.
