Quite basic hotel, but fabulous location just beside railway station and shuttle from airport. You have to check in at a sister hotel (much posher so you feel like a bit of a scruff) and pay €1 for a map from a rather surley receptionist. Luckily he told us exactly where to go and without his advice we would probably still be walking the alleyways!
The room was compact but fine. There's a sink and you get given towels for the shared bathroom facilities - which wasn't a problem. And the air con was brilliant, once you figure out how to use it... :)
Don't worry about it being far from the 'centre' of Venice i.e. St. Mark's Square - in my opinion it's much better to stay close to the railway station etc. when travelling (keep trying-to-find-accommodation-with-rucksack-on-back distances to a minimum) and Venice really isn't that big. Part of the attraction is meandering through the streets or going on the vaporetto. Plus, it was the cheapest place we could find that wasn't a campsite.
