Airlie Beach June 2007: Airlie Beach Travel Photos

This was my third trip to Queensland's Airlie Beach and a great chance to take some photos of the town. Airlie Beach is one of my favourite destinations in Australia because of its status as the gateway to the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef. This travel blog entry shows you some of the town and lagoon. Also shown is the Backpacker Hostel "Beaches" and on the other end of the scale "Coral Sea Resort".

Another early wakeup this morning, I woke up to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You" playing on the speakers. Well actually, the first time I woke up at 6:30 was some Aussie guy over the CB radio calling out "Merry Christmas" to someone on another boat. It was then that I realized it wa…

Happy Birthday Grandmother! That was the only thing to think about. It was a very boring day. It was raining again and there was pretty much nothing to do. It's just a place for the beach. At 10am we had to check out but there were to many persons so we decided to take a breakfast somewhere…

Ins Wasser darf man in …

Having left the peace and quiet of Ayr this morning we've arrived in the hustle & bustle that is Airlie Beach. I can only equate it to what I remember Cairns being 9 years ago on our first visit, all the young beautiful people just lazy around topping up their tans. Our attempt to book any typ…

We spent New Years Eve in the company of our neighbours in the hostel and decided to have an aussie BBQ. There are free bbq points along the beach and so we purchased a variety of sausages and headed to the beach. It turned out that the variety of sausages were mainly Chilli flavour and so had to b…

Cairns is OVER. I had a good setup in Cairns, but i don't know, something just felt off--awkward. I think my hostess must have sensed the same thing because she asked how soon i'd like to go to the Whitsundays and the next day she had me all setup to catch a ride with her friend down to Airlie Beac…
