Aida Hotel Prague Reviews
Simple, comfortable and friendly hotel Apr 27, 2014
A simple but very practical hotel in the north of the beautiful city of Prague.
Even though, as usual, I planned a route to get to the hotel before leaving, we had a lot of trouble finding it. Later on we would find out that everything in Prague seems to be very unclear, for street signs seem to be scarce, and the streets with signs don't show up on the various maps and vice versa.
Once you know how to find it though the metro station of Kobylisy is only a six-minute walk away, so that's perfect. From there you can take the C-line to the center of the city in about 15-20 minutes, and transfers to the other lines are easy (though time consuming).
If however you want to try and get to the city itself by foot, like we did, it wouldn't be the best idea you've ever had. The hotel is on a pretty high point (as a Dutchman I was very impressed that Prague seems to be built on a whole mountain range) so I wasn't surprised to find a massive staircase down right in front of the hotel. The top of the staircase gives you a breathtaking view over the city center down there, especially at night. However when you descend it it takes you to a suburban area where it's really easy to get disorientated and end up walking in circles. And remember; what goes down must go up (222 steps!). Taking the metro is very advisable.
The room got tidied up daily, but for a big part it was just tidying up, not actual cleaning. A water boiler was present (whoop whoop!), so were some tea bags, and a bowl to put the used tea bags in. The used bags were removed, but the bowl did not get replaced or cleaned, which was not disastrous but a little icky indeed. Same story with the tooth brush cup.
They did put effort in the rest of the bathroom, the shower, toilet and sink were squeaky clean, and the towels were lovely fresh and soft.
The beds were made just fine, but the blankets weren’t shaken out or anything - admittedly, I’m a messy person, but it would be nice not to find the crumbs of your second breakfast still waiting for you when you get ready for bed.
Skipping the dust bunnies under the bed, it’s overall a very reasonable room.
The bed was really comfortable, nice and soft. I've slept perfectly well.
The bathroom was pretty standard and well ventilated. The temperature of the shower stayed very constant and was easy to get on the right one - god bless. No curtains but fine doors. Refreshing as it should be.
Amazing, not a bad word about it! Personnel was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Everyone I met spoke English well. Using the computer was free, and sending the boarding cards to the receptionist for her to print was just as free and not a problem. When asked for direction effort was made to figure it out for you and print a map. Our flight left so early we couldn't stay for breakfast - which had been included during the whole stay - so they made us breakfast packages. I was delighted at how easy and friendly everything was handled.
I did not use it, but I also noticed a sign in the room that in case you had forgotten any toiletries, you could get free replacements from the reception.
