Perfect sunsets on the Rapa Nui Jan 19, 2012
Ahu Takai is the Ahu (ceremonial platform where Moai statues are) that is the closest to the city. This is favorite place for visitors to view the sunset and enjoy in smells of the grass and horses that are gazing around. Area around Ahu’s (there is two on the same location) has nice traditional buildings, base of the house in the shape of the boat, and extensive walls next to the ocean. Museum is also in near vicinity, I forgot how much was entrance fee, but it is something like 3$... Basic rule is not to climb on Ahu’s because it is extremely disrespectful to do that (even if you see some other people doing it).

This place is located short walk from the center of Hanga Roa, and it was my almost religious walk every night. Sun just makes perfect colors in the sky, and Moai are striking.
