Ahu Hanga Te’e Nov 05, 2013
Hanga Te’e is an Ahu that has eight large Moais, but none of them is standing up. Locals told me that a hurricane that hit the island in the mid 20th century topped most of the Moais on the island. This Ahu is located right on the cliff so that story makes sense and I can see large waves crashing and topping this large figurines. Next to the fallen giants there are few red hats that you can size up and explore close by. Rock beaches under this Ahu are favorite fishing place for locals. It is easy to find this Ahu because it is easily approachable and visible from the coastal road. Next to the road there is one small standing Moai right next to the small parking area.
