Ahmed Safari Camp
Ahmed Safari Camp Bahariya Reviews
The only downside on our trip to Egypt Sep 27, 2010
Located about 2-3 km. from Bawiti.
The room we had was quite ok, big, with mosquito nets and air-con. The bathroom was big too but the shower didn't drain well and you had to be careful it didn't overflow and flood the room.
This hotel was included in a tour we booked in the Nefertiti Hotel in Luxor. This included water, all meals, tour to Black & White Deserts, sleeping under the stars, and a second tour the next day around the Oasis. Our trip to the desert was great. The driver didn't speak much English, but he was nice, polite and cooked excellent food.
The driver we got on the second tour was awful and rude. Only after we got really mad and threatened him with going back to the hotel and complaining about him, he changed his attitude.
There is a swimming-pool in the hotel, but the water was greenish. The food they serve is basic but ok. Lots of Egyptian bread, a soup, cheese, some salad and some other dish. According to the tour we booked, the water was included, but it wasn't. Besides, they told us they didn't have cold water but then we realized the drivers always took cold water with them from the hostel, so I guess, for some reason, they didn't want to sell cold water to tourists.
Also, the staff was not nice, specially to us (2 women). We met a Dutch guy there, and they were very nice to him.
So long story short, I would not recommend this place, specially for solo women travellers.
