Favorite thing: Aguilares is a tiny town of 21 (up 110% since 2000) located along Texas Highway 395 in the South Texas Plains portion of South Texas. Aguilares is in Webb County which is one of the largest counties (by area) in the state. The most interesting thing about Aguilares is its history. It started in 1870 when several brothers named Aguilar (hence the towns name) established a ranch here. The town became a stop on the Texas-Mexican Railroad. Reportedly the town's population rose to 1500 during an oil boom in a nearby town in 1910; but that is a subject of dispute. Today the town is a popular spot for hunters during hunting season and the economy caters to them. The main reason to stop here is probably to take a photo of the General Store. Will add a photo when they will upload to the site.

Fondest memory: The General Store
