Beautiful waterfalls - worth a trip Apr 18, 2011
Agua-Azul and Misol-Ha are different, but equally beautiful waterfalls close to the ruins of Palenque. If you're taking a bus from anywhere to or from Palenque, make sure it's one that stops at these waterfalls or take a private transport. It is definitely worth it.

Agua Azul consists of several cascades, the water is turquoise and crystal-clear. You can swim in the natural pools or walk up the falls and enjoy the most gorgeous view way down a lush jungle valley. Misol-Ha is a single waterfall, about 40 metres high. You can walk behind the waterfall into a few small caves or swim in the calm pool. The beautiful setting makes this somehow more spectactular than you would expect at first.

Surprisingly, neither of the two is overcrowded with tourists - probably because they are indeed a bit off-track - which makes this even more of a "must-see".

I am not sure if this cost anything (I was there with a group), but think it was free.

Most Peaceful Place on Earth Jun 20, 2011
We stayed at Agua Azul for 3 days at the end of our month in Oaxaca. It is a beautiful and well maintained b & b. Best beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc. Sooooo peaceful.

The rooms are lovely, the pool is a real asset, breakfasts are a great opportunity to meet other guests.

We would certainly recommend to others and would stay again if we were going to Huatulco. It's a nice alternative to the mega hotels in the area. It's a little out of town, but cabs are easily accessible and very reasonable.

Agua azul is a great place to visit if you are in Chiapas. Its a little hard to get to if you dont have a car, but ask around for a collectivo its worth it.

Being passionated by waterfalls, visiting Agua Azul was another wonderful experience for me. To me: Water + Gravity = Energy, so this place really breaths a lot of energy. One waterfall after another and you're able to swim in between them. At some places it's so quiet (with an exception of natural sounds) that I had the iedea of being at a deserted island, swimming in the jungle. Just an exceptional experience to me.
