Afton Overview

Afton is a town in Lincoln County, Wyoming, also known as Star Valley, and has a population of about 2,000 people (up 7% since 2000). Afton is also home to the world's largest elkhorn arch, consisting of over 3,011 elk antlers. It is also the Largest town in the Star Valley area.

Afton was settled by Mormon settlers along the Lander Cutoff of the Oregon Trail, IN 1885. Afton sits in a grassland-like agricultural valley surrounded by forested mountains.

Just a bit east of town (on a fairly decent road) you will come to the nearby intermittent stream. This is the largest of only three intermittent streams (or cold water geysers) in the world. Afton has a couple of nice museums too.
