Visit an Old Station Along Route 66 and See the Old Packards Feb 14, 2017
One of the best things to do when driving through Afton is to stop at one (or both) of the car museums in town. The Darryl Starbird museum is located nearby on Highway 85A and has a larger collection; but the Afton Station Packard Museum is actually ON old Route 66 IN the town. This museum is located in a restored Eagle DX Gas Station that was built in the 1930s and served traffic on Route 66. The guy here was very friendly and can tell you a lot about attractions along the route. There are about 20 vintage cars here with an emphasis on Packards. I especially liked the old camper (see photo 5). Summer hours are 9:30 AM to 3 PM daily. Admission is free but suggested donation of $2 is appreciated.
