African Safari Wildlife Park Port Clinton Reviews
Going on safari...in Ohio! Sep 29, 2010
Take a day and feed the wild animals of Africa! Well, as wild as you can get in Ohio. We spent most of the day here. Arrived, had lunch, walked through the mini-zoo. Enjoyed the Spider Monkeys playing in their cage. Saw many species that I never new existed. Loaded everybody up in the car and drove through the park. They provide you one cup of food to feed the animals. Trust me, buy more! We bought 4 pounds of carrots and that was not enough. Once you make it through the gate, be prepared to be bombarded by cuteness as the alpacas and deer swarm your car wanting food.
After you make it through the initial swarm, keep your eyes open for the other animals beyond the road. Zebras, antelopes, cattle, deer, warthogs and giraffe are to be found. The bison are especially friendly, if not somewhat terrifying to have them stick their head inside your car.
The giraffe are at the end of the park, and you have an opportunity to buy more carrots to feed them. Lucky enough to have a sunroof on my car, we had the experience of them sticking their heads through the opening. Amazing!
Kids will love this, and so will the parents.
Ticket prices vary, look for coupons and deals online. We purchased our tickets for $5 each through a promotion.
A safari in Ohio, who would have thought that was possible?
