Ah, Casablanca.  Exotic, beautiful, mysterious, Casablanca.   Mmm, more like sprawling, polluted, traffic jammed, moped dodging, Casablanca.  Yet, it does have it's charm.  For one thing, just saying "Casablanca" is really kind of cool! We arrived just like they do in the movies, debarking the plane on the tarmac and walking into the terminal.  Welcome to North Africa!  Once through customs, which was quite quick and painless, we were met by our arranged rid…

Senegal -›
Through my blog I will tell you about lots of humanitarian actions throughout the world but since you always have to start somewhere I will tell you about the first destination where I did a humanitarian action: Senegal. Through my job I'm able to mobilise groups and take them during their trip to little villages to help the people there. You can do a lot of things in a country where people have nothing but this is what we did: - we brought all kind of things to villages located far fr…

Strange Friendships
posted by:

I have travelled to Africa for a friend.  He asked, I agreed. As I was packing my bags, someone asked me a question. The question was:  "Why are you going all the way there?  I can't even understand why you are friends with that guy?  You have nothing in common and he is nothing at all like you...  he is strange." My reply: "…because the strangest people make the greatest friends…" We live in a self-indulgent society.Buy, use, dispose.  Just in …

Morocco for me was a land full of mystery, culture and natural wonders: From the desolate sand-dunes of the Sahara to the magnificent architecture of the Old Quarter in Meknes, memories I have of my visit I will cherish forever! Highlights included: *Wandering through the labyrinthine streets of the medina in Fes *Falling asleep at a desert camp in the Sahara under a blanket of countless stars *Riding a camel over wind-swept sand-dunes *Rock-climbing the towering cliffs of the Todra Gorge

So, I haven't done the photojournalism thing in over a decade. It's the complete opposite of what I usually do: instead of taking photos of preeety theeengs. . . well, you get the point. And that in-the-news politician from Chicago--what's his name, Obama? {Remember, this is 2006!}--was shadowing me, so security was tight just about everywhere I went. Not nearly as bad as bush in Copenhagen last year, and nowhere near as bad as Queen Elizabeth in Berlin (that should put ya in your place, Dub…

Cairo, Egypt -› Luxor, Egypt -› ...
Well, after a long travel day, I have spent my first full day in Egypt. The flights over were uneventful, but unfortunately, Air France provides about as mych leg room as the back seat of my MINI -- it was actually, laughable, so that is what I did a lot. The little tv screen was so close to my face when the man in front of me reclined, that I could not angle it to see it. I was at Charles de Gaulle for 7 hours, I managed to sleep for about an hour there on a wire bench, but then som…

Chilax by the Red Sea
posted by:
Oct 20, 2007
Welcome to Sharm el Sheik. A purpose built holiday resort on the Sinai peninsular in the middle of the desert on the Red Sea and 6 hours drive from Cairo. Sharm is a stunning place to visit. It is a place of extremes. On the one side is the Sinai desert called Sinai due to the triangular shape of the rugged desert mountains. On the other side the Red Sea called such due to the Red Corals and the Red reflection from the desert mountains that occurs certain times of the year.
