I figured that I would put a blog together to show some of my pictures from Afghanistan since it's a country that most have never been too. A majority of the pictures are from OEF IV, and also a few from OEF X. I'm currently serving my last tour in OEF XII but do not have any pictures from this trip.

OK, so we started out about 7 in the morning. Our driver took us to an cemetary called Shohada-ye Salehin which is near the outskirts of the city. We wanted to start at the fortress Bala Hissar, but apparently, even though we drove by it, our driver didn't seem to care what we wanted to do. Anyway,…

The flight from Dubai to Kandahar was a short hop only about 2.5 hours and really not much to talk about for the flight. My flight attendant was cute and the Diet Coke I had was really small. Those were the only two real highlights from the flight.
We circled over …

It was Nov. 1, and we were finally leaving to go on our trip to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Our Uzbek visas took about three weeks to get since we had to have a travel agent request permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent for the Uzbek embassy in Kabul to issue the touris…

Some friends and I hopped in a couple of vehicles and took off to see some sights around Kabul. We first went to the Russian Swimming Pool. Evidently it was a structure that the Russians built when they occupied Afghanistan to train for diving. We stopped at a few more places. Enjoy the photos.

There were a few pe…

My time in A'stan isn't really 'traveling', but it has still been an exciting, interesting, and memorable experience.
Unfortunately, I don't get to go 'sight seeing', but I do work with Afhgans from all over the country and get to experience a bit of their culture.
The level of hospitality always amazes me, people with virtually nothing will offer all they have, just to be hospitable. Obvious exceptions aside, the people here are kind and interesting.
