Today it is Fathers day in Australia. All of the kids are grown up, no grandchildren, so 9 of us went on a river cruise for lunch. It was very nice but unfortunately the dolphins that are usually around, were not to be seen. :-(
It was good though. Only one of Andrew's children that did not turn up. Our future son in law was not there either as he had to work.
The cruise is for 2 hours and it is optional to have lunch so sometimes we do and other times we have lunch at the pub nearby ...

I’m sitting on a plane bound for Perth and trying to fight off the sleep. After two late nights out in Singapore with plenty of beers and five days of extensive travelling I’m pretty done for. I don’t want to sleep though, I love flying. Taking off being arguably the best part, I usually rave through the in-flight entertainment system and, uhm, check out the toilets. I love aircraft toilets. No really. (Never thought I would this confession). I find it amazing how they can fit eve...

Mick and Bev were back at work today, so it was flying solo foir the day. I'd decided upon Victor Harbour after due consulatation as being accessible and by the coast. Brother had generously (sportingly, foolishly.. insert your own adjective here) agreed to lend me his car for the day. I set off fairly early armed with map and printed directions, but in the Adelaide rush hour, took a wrong 'un and found myself somewhat off track. After a few pit stops to consult the map, I pointed mys...

Adelaide Hills is another great wine region of Australia, well known for the cooler climate wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris. I have worked in the wine industry for 16 years now, but never get tired of seeing the many colours of the vines and their surroundings, so I thought that I would share a few photos with you. :)

I've had a great experience in a small town called Aldgate in a high-elevated area of Adelaide Hills, South Australia. Aldgate is located about 12 miles southeast of the South Australia's gorgeous capital, Adelaide. Adelaide Hills has several charming little towns: Stirling, Aldgate, and Bridgewater. The area is hilly, but naturally decorated with white gum trees, eucalyptus -- native to the area, and sounds of magpies. Aldgate has a row of local stores just by the main road. If my memory ser...

The next day we had decided we were going to go to some wineries. As Merv doesn’t drink wine he w
as going to do all the driving and let me do all the wine tasting. Well, I wasn’t going to say no to that, was I? I picked three wineries that I wanted to see, and a gourmet food shop. I also wanted to take the scenic drive, and all that didn’t go together. The scenic drive was beautiful, there was so much to see! The day started off wet, but got better as time went on. We went through the...

Unfortunately I was working most of the time just outside of Adelaide and didn't get a chance to get out much. Luckily on Thursday night 2 of my coworkers took us out to the city and we had a chance to walk around a little bit and get a few pictures.
The Northern Lights festival was going on at the time. The light projects on the buildings were beautiful! Every so often the images and colors would change as people sat around enjoying the show.

I remember now, we pushed past Coober Pedy and stayed at a 'camp site' just outside a town called Port Augustus, because we wanted time in Adelaide, I remember now. Port Augustus was a bit of a hole as I remember. We did arrive at night, but the whole camping space just smelt like dead fish and sea water. There was a lot of sand and we couldn't really see where we were camped. Turns out we were quite close to water, which explained a bit.
We got to Adelaide in the afternoon, checked ourselve...

Here a some photos of my trip to Australia. I met my Aussie Mates in Europe. One night in Florence, we were all out drinking and dancing. Rob surprised us all by taking the stage and asking Nicoles hand in marriage. The wedding was the main reason for the visit down under but I took a couple of extra weeks to see this beautiful country. I covered some ground seeing 4 states in 3 weeks. It was a trip loaded with good times and great memories.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean it, it's just what I heard about it... but I have to say, it's definitely NOT true! I arrived here on Friday morning after a quite long bus ride on the Geyhound... it was like 6:30 in the morning, when my friend Heidi =) (hello!) picked me up... We had the greates weekend since my graduation... seriously you just have to find the right spots and go there with the right people... add some nice drinks (the less you pay your own, the better..) and there you go! Friday w...
