Small town charm Jun 06, 2005
The quaint little village of Adare was a part of our tour. This was the first place in Ireland that we saw thatched roofs, some newly replaced and some older and much darker in color. One business on Main street, where we parked, had half the roof recently replaced while the other end was older.
Also here Adare we got a chance to visit the church that was founded in 1230 AD as the only Trinitarian monastery in Ireland. Today it is still in use and the local Roman Catholic Church.
They even had a very nice little tourist information center.
