Adana Vacation Guide

The earliest inhabitants of Adana were the Hittites, who lived here during the Egyptian 18th century.

Adana gets its name from Adanus, son of weather God Cronus. It was founded in 63 B.C. by the Roman statesman, Pompey the Great. During those times, the city served as a resting place for caravans. Its importance stemmed from its strategic location, lying on a Roman army route to the East.

After the decline of the Roman Empire in 746 AD, Adana’s significance ebbed until Harun al-Rashid, the caliph of Baghdad restored its former glory.

After eight years of Egyptian rule, Adana came under the aegis of the Turkish Empire only after 1840.

Adana, Turkey -› Turkey -› …
Wow! It's been 4 years in Turkey at Incirlik AB and man! I'm I ready to get out of here! The country was a great country for site seeing. It is an archeologist wet dream because of the excavation restricitions and the lack of funding the country has (or just won't part with) I will surely come back this way again and recommend everyone else to try it!
