Adams Vineyards Willow Springs Reviews
Tasting Some North Carolina Wine Mar 15, 2014
Robert and I are gearing up for our adventure – traveling the North American continent – but some days it seems like a s-l-o-w progression. There's still a few things to do before we can get on the road fulltime...
To get a taste of our future endeavors, Robert and I visited a local business – and sampled their product!
Adams Vineyards – Muscadine & Fruit wines!
We sampled 8 varieties of their wines – from semi-sweet (including a gold-winning white named for the founder – “Papa Johnny’s White Bliss”) to a sweet wine that I loved (Clara Breeze) and then three types of Fruit Wines: Strawberry, Blueberry and Blackberry.
Adams Vineyards is a family run operation – originally founded by John Adams III on land from a grant to his family in the 1700′s. He was the 7th generation to farm the land. Following the decrease in the tobacco industry, John Adams set a new direction for the tobacco farm by planting some muscadine grape vines, harvested the first crop in 2008, and, then sadly, passed away in 2010. He set a direction for future generations, and led them forward.
Today, Joyce Adams and their son Quincy have taken over the making of the wine and the business operations.
It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon – learning about a family business, trying some new wines, and meeting some great people… (hey- it’s tough work, but somebody has to do it, right?)
