Actor and Tourist Guesthouse Busan Reviews
Close to the beach, great restaurants and bakeries! Jun 28, 2009
This guesthouse is located close to a subway station and very easy to find, thanks to the great directions on their website.
Mr Lee owns this large roof-top apartment in a good area of Busan, and he has three large dorm rooms for guests to stay in.
We stayed in the smallest dorm, the 4-bed one, and had it to ourselves for most of our stay. The rooms were very hot (we stayed there at the end of June, just before monsoon season began), with only a floor standing fan, and although the windows open, there is a car park just below which can be noisy early in the morning. However, the rooms are comfortable and have security lockers and mosquito nets over the beds. There is air conditioning in the larger dorms, but this will only be switched on when temperatures reach 35C at night and then it will only be turned on from 11pm-7am because of the huge expense to run.
Mr Lee is really nice; chilled out and friendly. He will help you with your plans around Busan and generally make you feel very welcome. He has a gorgeous dog called Cha Cha, which is so cute and makes interesting company!
There are supermarkets and restaurants galore within a few minutes walking distance of the hostel, and of course with the subway nearby too, you have easy access to all of Busan. The beaches are also very close by.
There is a washing machine provided for your use, and you can dry your clothes on the roof. The bathroom could do with a bit of a clean, but it wasn't too bad. There are two bathrooms - one inside and one outside. The outside one has 24/7 hot water and a toilet, and the inside one has hot water but you must first ask Mr Lee to turn it on for you.
The common area/lounge is comfortable and traditional Korean style. There is also a seating area outside with excellent views over the city. The kitchen is well equipped and all that is asked is that you wash your dishes and leave things tidy.
I would definitely stay here again. There was a great atmosphere and we felt very welcome and at home. You couldn't really ask for much more (apart from maybe some air conditioning in the small room!)
