Achins Bookshop Inverkirkaig Reviews
REMOTE (and how!) bookshop Sep 17, 2007
It's ironic that if you 'google' this, to the right of the page you will see Blackstones and Waterstones. It would be hard to dream up anything more different.
Compared with these it has to be admitted that Achins is not very big and it does not go in for branches. Nor will you find it in any large town - or any town come to that. yet you would be hard pushed to find any bookshop anywhere with more information of the Scottish areas of Coigach and Assynt or of Celtic history, lore and crafts. It even has a cafe attached.
Inverkirkaig is situated on a hilly, winding and narrow single track road from Lochinver to Achiltibuie which I consider possibly the most beautiful road in all the UK. From it there is a orute to the Fals of Kirkaig, notable for beauty rather htan height, and then on to Suilven, one of our most remote mountains.
