Accessing Loch Lomond by train Aug 18, 2017
Abandoning my travel plans to the Highlands; I decided to do a day trip to Balloch where I had an opportunity to explore Loch Lomond including a sightseeing cruise.

I've got a train from Charing Cross station in Glasgow (the station is next to the hotel I was staying in) to Balloch. The journey took approximately three quarters of an hour on the North Clyde Line and I paid £5.90 (July 2017) for an off-peak day return (you need to travel on trains after 9.00am Monday to Friday). The station is conveniently near the Tourist Information Centre and River Leven which links to Loch Lomond.
