We woke up early anxious and excited for our short plane ride to Abu Simbel where we get to see Ramses II and Nefertari's Temple.Although we didn't leave on time due to several people who overslept and were hungover from the previous night, we arrived at Aswan's airport with 30 minutes to spare bef…

My alarm is going of really early in the morning - actually I am not sure this time can be described as morning - it is 03.15. I am more used to go to bed at this hour than getting up it is unnatural to get up at this hour. But there is no other way - I want to go to Abu Simbel temple and if yo…

We had a 3am
start to drive ~400km south, nearly to the Sudanese border, to visit Abu Simbel. The tomb was amazing, carved into the
mountain side with a 33m high entrance way, with two seated gods, each 20m
tall, on either side of the doorway. The large tomb was devoted to Ramesses II
as Pharoa…

Abu Simbel is so huge that you can see it clearly from an airplane. It was moved piece by piece from it's previous location to where it resides now because of the High Dam flooding everything when Lake Nassar was created. Abu Simbel is dedicated to Ramesses II and all his glorious accom…

Egypt is a treasury of ancient "relicts".The 2 weeks I spent here with my friend Pavel were full of several things: unforgottable experiences, "hassle" by the merchandisers, beautifull sceneries, heat, sun and dust, nice and even annoying people. What it wasn't? Definitely not boring.

From Luxor to Aswan on the Nile, in 6 days. Wauw. One of my favourite trips I've made in my young life. March seems to be the ideal time (not too hot, not too crowdy). Made an additional trip by plane to Abu Simbel. A cruise on the Nile is an exceptional experience. The environment is amazing. But watch out for the food...! ;)

Although we did arrive in Aswan late in the evening (after we were asleep), we left at 3 in the morning for Abu Simbel. This was an optional part of our tour, and we had to pay a little extra for it, but it was well worth it. After all when are we going to be in Egypt again? Since…

Of the recollections I have of the uproar over the creation of lake Nasser, the most vivid was the one over the threatened inundation of the temples of Ramses II and Nefertari at Abu Simbel. The more famous, the temple of Ramses II, is most notable for its four huge statues of that pharaoh ad…
