Expensive but worth the experience Dec 29, 2007
So I've heard of an icebar, but we have nothing of the likes in the US, this place is pretty darn cool, it's a bit small, holds maybe 30 people at most? It costs 3500Yen to get in (~$35) and that includes the cape, one glass (each additional one is 800Yen) and one drink (each additional is 1200Yen). The entire bar is made of ice, you drink out of an ice glass, you sit on ice seats, you set your drinks down on ice counters, etc. The bar tender was way cool, let us try a number of different drinks for free, and then also sold us a number of drinks for half price. The crowd in there is mostly foreigners as the novelty wears off. Usually you can only stay in there for 45 minutes at a time because there's a line waiting to get in at the door, but we got there late, so towards the end of the night, when our 45 minutes were up, the line did not exist so they told us we could stay longer if we wanted to. We stayed there for an hour and after that, we were over it, and drinks were too expensive to just hang out and keep drinking... So all in all, it is a novelty, but a really cool one and definitely worth a visit!

…back, we had dinner at McDonald's, then went to Hiro-o station, walked around looking for bars with cheap covers, ended up at the Absolut Icebar Tokyo, which was really cool, a bit pricy, but definitely worth it. The entire bar is made out of ice, everything, including the glasses that you drunk out of, hence its very cold in there and they give you 'cape' to wear while… Day 8: Relaxation over a drink |
