Abbiategrasso town Reviews
Around Abbiategrasso Jul 15, 2011
Abbiategrasso is one of the least known town of the province of Milan, but is perhaps one of the most dense of history.
The town is quite small and can be easily visited in half a day. The visit can begin from the small ancient town center, where you can see the Town Hall, an ancient building with a central tower built at the beginning of 1600. After about ten minutes walk you reach the Castle which was erected in 1382 by Gian Galeazzo Visconti, Lord of Milan. Nearby you can visit the old church of Santa Maria, which dates XVI century and the Convent of Annunciata which was erected in 1466.
Do not miss to drink the traditional Besuschino, an espresso coffee mixed with dark chocolate made by Cafe Besuschio (just in the town centre) since 1845.
You can reach Abbiategrasso by bicycle along a beautiful road that runs along the Leonardo da Vinci's canal of Milan called “Naviglio”.
